Ruta 12, km 3.5, Punta del Este, Maldonado, Uruguay
Located atop a hill, the jaw–dropping view and the personalized service are the main draw at Las Cumbres. Throw in the owner's unique art objects and souvenirs and Las Cumbres becomes a one–of–a–kind destination with "from the heart" service.
Art lovers will find plenty to admire at Las Cumbres, as will people looking for a destination that offers personalized pampering. The one–time private home has grown into a boutique hotel. Located at the end of the curvy uphill drive guests are greeted with an impressive view of Punta del Este and the surrounding area. Las Cumbres is set amid 34 acres of greenery where the sounds of frogs and the site of birds create a tranquil ambiance. The property is also a showcase for the owners' eclecticism, delight in the whimsical, and travel souvenirs. A Zen Garden, tea pavilion, pond, and herb garden are some of the one–of–a–kind attractions on the property.
Las Cumbres is located 10 minutes from the main road, and midway between the local airport and the heart of Punta del Este, which is 20 minutes away. Arriving guests are invited to have coffee, tea, or juice and a pastry before being given a tour of the property. The registration process is completed in the accommodation. The personalized introduction allows the staff to get to know the guests so they can try to anticipate their needs.
An elevator serves all accommodations in the main building. Some guests are housed in cabins a short walk from the main building. All accommodations are as unique as the rest of the property and individual privacy is assured. Rooms are named to reflect the décor or the surroundings. Each large, well–appointed, unit presents a different ambiance but all have large bathrooms, some with a shower/tub combination and others with an antique tub. The suites contain an indoor or outdoor Jacuzzi. The Cielo (heaven) Suite has a one–eighty degree view, cloud–like wall treatment, and sheer drapes around the bed to create a "heavenly" feel. Guests who are early risers can opt for a room with a view of the sunrise while others may choose one with a sunset perspective. Each evening guests pause, perhaps with a glass of wine or a cocktail, to take in the setting sun. Fruit baskets greet standard room guests on arrival, while suite guests will also find a bottle of wine waiting.
The Soleado Restaurant, with artistic table settings, features a Provencal menu while the Parrilla Grill offers Uruguayan food served el fresco. All meals exemplify the creativity that is the signature of the Las Cumbres. La Glorieta tearoom serves afternoon tea and champagne. The main bar, in the reception area, serves an international selection of libations.
The view is spectacular from every part of the property. The pool looks out over the Rio Plata, which looks more like an ocean in the Punta del Este area, and is magical in the evenings when ringed with candles. After the sun sets the sky becomes a black dome dotted with stars. A contains a Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, a relaxation area, massage rooms, plus yoga and Tai Chi classes. It too, is an expression of art with huge window panels and a Zen ambiance. The focus is on intimate, personalized attention.
Guests will find themselves peering into all the nooks and crannies checking out the art objects. The staff will arrange any tour or outing including visits the local art galleries in Punta del Este, boat rides to view the seals located on a nearby island, or to a local restaurant. Las Cumbres is for those who shun the large, sleek hotels in the center of the Punta del Este, and are looking for a unique, tranquil getaway with a focus on personal service. This is a hotel with heart and the staff takes special pride in providing the best service possible.
